I want your photo session to feel relaxed, flexible, and fun. It's all about capturing authenticity over chasing perfection. Whether you have a clear vision in mind or simply want to document the sweet, everyday moments with the people you love, I'd be honored to help. My goal is to create a space where you can be yourself and enjoy the experience. I'm excited to celebrate this season you're in--the milestones, the connections, this part of your story.
#SessionGoals
here's the process:
1. Get in touch.
Ready to get started? Message me using the CONTACT form on this website or by emailing sunlitfocusphotography@gmail.com. We will decide on a date, your investment package, and location(s).
2. Organize details.
I'll email you some materials: (1) Session & Style Guide, (2) Contract and Photo Release, and (3) Get-to-Know-You Questionnaire to help us get the most out of your session.
Please return the contract and the questionnaire promptly so that I can start preparing for your photoshoot.
3. Take photos.
We'll meet up and have a great photoshoot! :)
4. Savor and share the memories!
Soon after our photoshoot, I get to curating your photo gallery. Within 3 weeks after our session date and per the package you chose, you will receive your images. Please note that timelines during busy seasons and for large, extended photoshoots may take longer to complete; if this is the case, I will communicate this before our session. If applicable, I will also share mock-ups of a la carte items upon request. Then, enjoy and share your images!
Tips for Having a Great Session
Doing outfit changes?
Decide in advance where you will change: will it be your car? a public restroom? a coffee shop? We can make it a part of the route so the transition is quick and smooth. The most efficient place, though, tends to be your vehicle. Bring a small mirror if you don't want to use your phone to do a check when you’re ready.
Taking photos with young kids?
We will make it fun for them too! Action shots and playful moments make great family photos, so come ready to move. If there's a chance they might get hangry, consider bringing a snack (like crackers) or let them have a meal before putting on their outfits so that they’re happy and fed. If they have a favorite, portable toy/stuffed animal, bring it! The more that we can let kids be kids in the session, the happier they'll be and the better the photos will turn out.
Bring a buddy if having them there lights you up.
If you're taking photos with friends, family, or a team, bring the whole crew you want photographed! Taking individual portraits or senior pictures? Feel free to bring a parent, a sibling, or a friend—whoever helps you have fun and light up around the camera. At times I may even make them my assistant. Keep in mind, though, how many extra people you'd want to bring so that you can still have a fun and productive session. :) Oftentimes when taking individual photos, less is more because having an audience can feel like a lot sometimes.
Consult the Session & Style Guide.
You’ll get this guide after you book a session. This will help you to think through some important session prep information, along with suggestions for color coordination and outfit considerations. Think about footwear too—if you want photos in a scenic meadow, stiletto heels may not be your feet's best friend.
Bring items that represent you.
The photoshoot is all about YOU, so feel free to bring items that you'd like to include in your photos. Sometimes people want to bring an important necklace, an already-framed photograph, your grad cap and gown, baby announcement props, sports equipment, or even an instrument. As long as it's appropriate for the location where we're going, it could be a fun addition! (Note: Most locations do not allow glitter or confetti, so any additional items should be mess-free.)
Lean into it and have fun.
I know that while many people enjoy being in front of the camera, having your photo taken is not everyone’s cup of tea. My goal is to make the process enjoyable and fun—and efficient. We’ll keep things moving and try different ideas to find what feels right and make sure we can get some great shots. My approach is to get us outside and exploring. I incorporate a good amount of movement because that’s often more natural than “sit and smile” photos. For the best experience, just focus on engaging and spending time with the people you love and/or showing us who you are at this time in your life.
